Dionne Warwick, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin are expected to make musical contributions at the funeral of Whitney Houston, to be held in New Jersey on Saturday (February 18, 2012), according to BBC News.

Musical performances pencilled in for the funeral could be mistaken for the headline acts of a music festival, and some of the biggest names in the world will pay their respects in Newark. Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown, singer with New Edition, has been invited despite Tmz.com reporting the family were trying to block his attendance, and Hollywood actor Kevin Costner will also speak. Houston and Costner starred opposite each other in the 1992 smash hit movie The Bodyguard, which grossed over $400 million worldwide. Police plan to block off streets around the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, with anybody without an invitation told to stay away from the venue. In a bid to deter fans from attempting to get near the church, the funeral will be shown live on US television, with the Houston family agreeing to have a single camera inside the church. Various media crews have already set-up camp outside the church, hoping to capture footage of the star-studded invitees arriving and leaving.

Songwriter Valerie Simpson, whose song ‘I’m Every Woman’ was covered by Houston in 1992, will be amongst the attendees. She told CNN she hoped the day would be a celebration of Whitney’s “incredible voice”.
